Thrombolysis
Thrombolysis is a stroke treatment that uses
intravenous medications such as the clot-buster tPA to activate a protein,
called plasmin. This in turn breaks down fibrin—the primary component of blood
clots. Physicians must use thrombolysis within three hours of a stroke’s
